Primary Schools are now required to publish alongside their Performance information a list of their childcare provision making it easier for parents to know what is available.
Since Whinfield Primary School believes in students growing, developing and bonding outside of the classroom, there are a variety of activities available for all types of interests. Enrichment Activities & Hobbies will run for 10 weeks, Excluding half term week as activities are not on during school holidays.
ALL activities will be available to book and pay for (if chargable) on the School Gateway . Please speak to the school office on 01325 240499 if you have any questions
We try to rotate the activities to cater for all hobbies. Please let us know which activities your child would like to join in next term. In addition to the activities offered by school. Breakfast and after school childcare is available contact the school office to be added to the group to book and pay for your sessions.
Onsite Breakfast & After School Childcare Provision
The onsite childcare provision offers affordable breakfast and after school care in the safety and comfort of the school premises.
Our aim is to provide an affordable healthy and active start and end to the school day during term time only within the school premises, offering peace of mind for working parents and is available to all pupils attending Whinfield Primary School, however, places are limited to ensure adequate staffing ratios.
Places are allocated on a first come first served basis and can be booked and paid for 7 days in advance using the School Gateway App or website. During normal operations, sessions cannot be changed and are non refundable once they have been booked and paid for by parents so please check your sessions carefully when booking. When school is closed to all pupils for holidays, staff training days and emergencies, childcare will also be closed and therefore no fees are payable.
Breakfast and a snack are provided and a range of activities are offered in the school hall which provides a safe, secure and relaxed environment.
- Breakfast session is available Monday to Friday 8.00am to 8.45am
- After school session is available 3.00pm – 5.30pm
- Childcare sessions are currently available during school term time only.
Behaviour:
The schools High 5 behaviour policy is carried through to childcare as the children are familiar with the rules and consequences.
Childcare Fees:
Childcare operates on a not for profit basis to keep the fees to parents as low as possible. This means the fees paid fund the staff salaries, food and resources for the children, no profit is made from the childcare service.
- Breakfast club £2 per session
- After school £8 per session
Operating during COVID Pandemic
During the pandemic childcare will operate in year group bubbles, the same as school bubbles meaning children from each year group will eat and play only with children from their year group. Please note that as childcare is a self funding non profit making service therefore we ask for your cooperation during the COVID pandemic to ensure we can maintain the childcare function for the future.
By working together we enabled childcare to reopen in September. We asked for your help by changing the operating hours to starting at 8am and closing by 5.30pm and in return school subsidized the childcare to increase the number of staff hours without increasing the cost to parents.
We understand that money may difficult for families at this time therefore Governors agreed that if there is a forced closure for all pupils due to imposed lock down, childcare fees will not be charged to parents as school is unable to provide the service.
However refunding every child isolating, whilst still operating for those children in school is not financially viable for the childcare service. Therefore Governors have agreed a compromise, if your child is isolating, then the first 7 calendar days will be payable as normal. If the isolation is for a longer period such as 14 days school will refund any pre booked childcare from day 8.
Covid Lock downs and Isolation’s are completely beyond the control of both school and parents therefore we thank you for your co-operation and understanding during this time to safeguard the childcare provision.
