At Whinfield Primary School we have developed a curriculum which is ambitious and designed to give all pupils the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in life.
In Spanish, the curriculum has been designed very carefully in conjunction with all staff to ensure that the knowledge and skills are taught in a sequential order which will ensure pupils know more and remember more.
We follow the National Curriculum for Spanish using the Jolie Ronde scheme of work. At Whinfield, this takes the form of a small steps approach which is adapted to meet the needs of the children in each year group. Vocabulary and key skills are revisited frequently alongside the introduction of new topics and skills. The Year 3 curriculum provides a grounding of basic vocabulary and skills that are then built on each year in preparation for subsequent MFL teaching in KS3.
Spanish is taught in Key Stage 2 from Years 3 to 6.
