Whinfield Primary School have developed a curriculum which is ambitious and designed to give all pupils the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in life. As a school, we are passionate about ensuring that every child has the opportunity to shine and use sport and activity as a vehicle to actively promote this.
In PE, the whole school curriculum has been designed very carefully in conjunction with all staff to ensure that the knowledge and skills are taught in a sequential order which will ensure pupils know more and remember more.
We follow the National Curriculum for PE, our plans are based around resources and activities provided by ‘Get Set 4 PE.’ They are bespoke to our school and have been adapted for each year group and the needs of our pupils. Pupil and staff voice is also taken into consideration and the curriculum is adapted accordingly to accommodate their changing needs.
We place a high focus on sport and activity to promote the benefits on both physical health and mental well-being. Physical education is a powerful tool to give children skills for life, improving self-confidence, perseverance, team spirit, cooperation, positive competitiveness and organisation. Physical education is an integral part of school practices, and our aim is that all children in the school gain a sense of achievement and develop positive attitudes towards themselves and others.
A whole school overview is attached to this page detailing our curriculum in PE.
