Curriculum – Music

Whinfield Primary School have developed a curriculum which is ambitious and designed to give all pupils the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in life.

In music the whole school curriculum has been designed very carefully in conjunction with all staff to ensure that the knowledge and skills are taught in a sequential order which will ensure pupils know more and remember more.

We use Charanga as a structure for delivering our music curriculum. This is adapted to suit the needs of our pupils at Whinfield and for the needs of each year group by focusing on the building blocks of music; pulse, rhythm melody and notation. This ensures the key skills needed to progress in music are revisited and reviewed each lesson. More time can be given to these key skills with a variety of tasks differentiated to suit the needs of the children.

A whole school overview is attached to this page detailing our curriculum in Music.
